 Chapter 18. BUILDINGS AND BUILDING REGULATIONS

  § 18-4. Building department to enforce the Existing Structures Code provisions of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code.

  • (a)

    Title: This section may be known and referred to as the "County of Greene Building Maintenance Code."

    (b)

    Official action: The building inspections department is hereby designated to act as the enforcing agency for the enforcement of the Existing Structures Code provisions of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code duly adopted by the Virginia Board of Housing and Community Development under authority of the Code of Virginia, §§ 36-98 and 36-103. Enforcement shall be according to the terms of this section.

    (c)

    Enforcement: The enforcement procedures shall be instituted by the code official and administered in accordance with the provisions set forth in subsection (e) of this section when a written complaint is filed with the code official. The code official shall enforce only the provisions of Section 130, Part III of 2000 USBC.

    (d)

    Appeals: The local board of building code appeals is hereby designated as the appeals board to hear appeals arising from the application of the provisions of the code.

    (e)

    Administrative practices: The code official shall establish such procedures or requirements as may be necessary for administration and enforcement of this section. The procedures are to be approved by the County of Greene.
